Longtime Monterey resident and state Department of Parks and Recreation employee Sebastiana has died.
That's Sebastiana the parrot, who had been a fixture at the old Custom House in Monterey for 37 years.
The bird succumbed Sunday at age about 53, according to Parks Department spokesman Dave Schaechtele.

Hello. I'm new to this forum, but not new to owning a parrot.
PT Bird, an orange wing amazon, has been with us for the last 26 years. We purchased him when he was (purported to be) a year old. We've bonded with him very nicely, to the point where I can clip his feathers and his talons without resorting to gloves or towels. He seems to enjoy the nail clipping, but hates having his wings touched. He doesn't bite while being clipped, but gets pretty ruffled, for obvious reasons.

My boyfriend was given a parrot about two months ago. The people found him and they had to get rid of the parrot because they had a puppy who got a hold of the bird once, but he is okay.
