OH MY! I got this new online computer game, and so did my roommate, well to explains the set up a bit....the main computer is in the office which is where Eve's cage is. Mine laptop is in the living room. Now typicaly Eve is covered at night and the light stays off. So my roommate will use the computer without disturbing Eve's sleep. Well....we were both playing this game last night until 1am. Talking back and forth to each other. So poor Eve got no sleep! So he has decided to show his displeasure this morning by hunting our heads! He has spent the better part of this morning flying around and using his feet and beak to grab the top of our heads as he flies by! Ouch! I gave him breakfast, peaches, cereal, pine nuts and pasta...all of which he threw on the floor, with a sense of anger. He pooed on my roommates head and has been screaming all morning and refuses to step up, (he thinks I'll put him in time out for his behavior) Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the perch! Poor little tried vasa....
Some mornings I'll go to get Vinnie out of his sleeping cage and he just stares at me like "Not Yet" so I close the door and cover him back up for 15-30 minutes.
Should the missus and I abscond for a weekend vacation, I can depend upon dealing with some bites when we get back; Bobbie Q. is serious about her routine! Once she's satisfied I've been soundly reminded she's back to her adorable ways.
She lets us know if we're keeping her up after cover-time by emitting the most piteous moan you ever heard.
Well,I find it so interresting how these little birds let you know just how they feel.As I was reading the replys I am rubbing my wrist...my two girls spent most of the day in a backroom(with TV and visits thrughout the day)When I brought them up front, the B&G hopped off onto the front cage ..not my MM,she had to let me know that she was not going to just hop off without a good nip for not getting her up front sooner...I knew she was going to do it.I know her pretty darn well..certainly you Know I had to bite her back...yes I did ,on the back of her neck and then told her not to do that!!!Oh like she is really going to listen...ten minutes later we kissed and made up...until next time. THanx for listening,David
It amazes me how much some birds value their sleep and others seem to not need it. If my gcc gets less than 6 hours of sleep or gets woken up too early, he staggers out of his little hut as if he has a hang-over. He also yawns and takes about 20 minutes to be able to have both eyes open at once. Funny how he has the same trouble waking up that I do.
With my flock I try to make sure they get enough sleep. We have three in our bedroom where the computer is but that will come to an end by the end of this month. If they don't get enough sleep we sure do hear about it.
Sleep is a funny thing with birds. Eve's bed time is EXACTLY at 7:45pm. That means that at EXCATLY 7:48 we start screaming if I have not put him to bed! Same in the morning...Eve will let me sleep until 9:30am. Any later and he will first start will the beeping noise that the alarm clock makes, if that doesn't work he'll make the sound of the phone ringing. If that doesn't work he make the sound of a door creaking, than if all else fails,(mind you that just means only 10 extra minute have passed) than it's the screaming. He also likes his afternoon naps. Typical they are from 1pm to about 2:30pm. If I don't put him back for his nap he will fly into the bathroom and nap on the shower curtain rod, he has picked this spot because their are no windows in the bathroom so it's nice and dark.
