Cute critter. I love how the Vasa is so...falcon-esqe.

Easy for me to resist, I'm a hillbilly from middle America. NJ would be a bit far for the missus to entertain my going for to collect another nestling.

Tell me that poor vasa has no toys! That's crimminal they are way to intelligent! Sweet face thou.....sniffle, I wish.

I am half tempted to take Vinnie on a road trip, just to say hello.

If nothing else we could check out their boarding facilities, since NY state requires bands on birds to be boarded, and Vinnie doesn't have a band (he's from Connecticut). So if I go on vacation, well, I'm not sure what to do, but I'm looking for (healthy, healthful) ideas.

I would so love to help her out. Wouldn't it be nice if a visit from VinVin could calm her down some? And yeah, why doesn't she have toys?

And Mandysquawk : Thanks for the pictures! Now we have a face to go with her story. She looks like a real sweetheart.

Maybe Molly, if you go there, you gotta take her! Like anyone has ever gone to the humane society just to look! I know, no toys!! Thats the first thing I noticed, too. Hmf. Decisions, decisions....

What's interesting is how petite her head is. wonder if that's a female trait? There supposed to be larger than the males. She's also gonna have balance issues! The perch is way to big for her feet. if she is unsteady that will contribute to her fear and aggression.

Oh I wish it were so simple! I live in a modest 1 bedroom apartment in Manhattan. Two parrots in a small space? Plus, Vinnie came to me as a baby; I've no experience taming not so happy adults. Not that I don't have the patience, but I probably don't have the time.

I could however, find the time to bring her up to Kimba

Heck as far as I'm concerned, we could just start a Vasa commune in NY state. We could have an artist / writers colony within a Vasa community. Sounds ideal to me. Kimba are you anywhere near Woodstock? Heh.

Funny Chiquin: When I take Vinnie to the vet, the whole staff says he could easily pass a hawk; and yet when I take him to the park all the little kids (ages 4 and up) will say "Oh! Look at the parrot!"

The first time I took him to the vet for his blood tests they had another bird there -- a starling? I can't remember.... She threw an absolute fit being in the same room with him. Terrified for her life.

I used to get "is that a pigeon?"
