They have some vasas at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. They're not in the public part of the aviary yet, to my knowledge. I was taking Anka for a walk and a prior employee stopped me to talk to me about them It's cool to live so close.

Kimba, have you ever made it to the parrot symposium? That would be awesome!

Heh. I gave Vinnie a whole roll of toilet paper on his perch. Can you guess what he does with it? Yes, he tears off strips and dunks them in the water bowl. Then he wads them up and chews on them. I'm making sure he doesn't eat them. In fact, the tray beneath the perch is covered in spit balls. And when he's not shredding it, he hops on top of the roll and rides it as it spins around the perch. Best 99 cents I've ever spent!

Just don't give him a straw! Might figure out how to use those spit balls!

I don't think he needs a straw! Just looked in the mirror and found one pasted to my forehead.

awww you guys quit it! i'm so jealous. the more i read and hear about these birds the more interested i am. amazing. i can't even believe it. i still can't get over the way they look, let alone the personality that comes with it. what a package!
it's becoming my goal in life - to one day own a Vasa.

Vinnie is hilarious.. i'm glad Henry doesn't know how to do spit balls, i haven't been hit with one of those since primary school!!!

hahahahaha!
my poor cat Tinker-Bell went to cat heaven almost 2 years ago (she was 20, whoa!) but ohh did Henry love her! she used to wear all kinds of food courtesy of the naughty little chicken but she didn't seem to mind, although Henry trying to groom her was a little too much for her to deal with sometimes.
well i'm off the check the gallery for more amazing Vasa pictures!
