Default free flight training?

has anybody on the forum been able to or heard about free flight training a parrot?

or mabey perch training is a better way of putting it?

basically. leaving a parrot out of its cage for a long time. If the room was safe (windows and mirrors covered ect.) the parrot potty trained, and taught how to sit on a perch, mabey it would be a way to prevent bordem?

this is my theory but obviously it won't be so simple as parrots are like 2 year olds, can be stuborn and and somtimes won't be in the mood. lol

but this is just a little thing iv'e come up with so anyones opinons and other methods would be great!

1- train parrot to step up and stand on hand.

2- train parrot to stand on perch sitting nearby and rewarding with treats.

3- train parrot to wait on the perch whilst you walk away. If parrot flys off calmly place back on perch without talking or rewarding and try again.

4- once parrot can wait train to come to call when told to, perching on your hand.

5- when calling parrot drop hand, point at a diffrent perch and say "here". when you drop your hand away from the parrot lands on the only perch availble (preferably this won't be your head) and then you can reward it and repeat over and over using the comand word "here" and pointing at the perch.

so what do you think. am I living in a dream world lol. or might this just work....... if you were persistent enough.

Zetar thats exactly where I got it from!!!!

addapted falconry a bit. Falconry its all down to weight controll.

With a parrot u can use a favorite treat but you won't need weight controll for parrots.

should work, its more if the parrot wats to co-operate. lol
