Macaw Harness Training??

Hello, I just bought a harness for my severe macaw so that I could safely take him outside on nice days. The problem is, whenever the harness is anywhere near him, he runs from it.

Anyone have any tips on how to get him used to the harness and eventually like wearing the harness?

Hi! What kind of harness is it? Aviator or feather teather? If it's the aviator harness it should have come with a dvd showing how to go about getting your bird to adjust and not be afraid of the harness, the feather teather does not. But I would start by simple placing the harness in the same room as the cage till he gets used to seeing it, and than gradually move it closer to his cage, try letting him play with it and such till it no longer is a threat.
