Default small time rescue operation

so I've decided to do a little small time rescue with birds, I've had excellent experiences with birds in the past and finally have the support of my significant other!!

My passion reignited by the Thick Billed Parrot in Cinncinnati Zoo, I'm looking to help rehome some birds who haven't had the best of lives as well as the birds who just aren't able to stay in their current homes. I'm willing to drive to the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and some parts of Illinois! I'm located in Bay City Michigan...if anyone has need of me, or knows of someone having issuesbeing able to keep their bird...feel free to PM me here, IM me on AIMerefalcon2 or give me a call, my home and cell are on my site as are my other pieces of contact information

Hope all is well with your rescue operation.

I used to work with those Thick Bills at the Cincinnati Zoo. They are awesome birds.

Be aware though, that if you are looking for one as a pet, that they are illegal to keep without licensing because they are so endangered. There are less than 4000 in the wild I think.

One of the birds at the zoo was actually acquired from a woman who had it and didn't know what it was.

So...can you get thick billed parrots from zoos that no longer need them for exhibits or want to make room for new animals?

No, zoos are usually really careful about who they trade animals with. They usually only trade with AZA accredited institutions.

To trade with someone outside the AZA (American Zoo Association), there would have to be a very unusual circumstance and a non-endangered or threatened species.

I LOVE THICK BILLS
At the Akron Zoo there is thick bills. The great part is that I get to work with them. I hope you can see this picture even thou its not the greatest. It is of Crasher my favorite thick bill that died although he lived to the ripe age of over 65, and I miss him.
