Default Feeding schedule?

I have this part down:
Always fresh water and pellets in the bowl.
Seeds as a treat, once or twice a week.
Nuts are given as a reward during training/playing with toys.

I'm seeing varying opinions on how many times a day people feed their bird. When do you give mixes/mashes and birdie bread? Is that instead of meals you eat, or in addition to? What does your birds feeding schedule look like?

I always just fed Paulie whatever we were eating, and now I'm seeing all these recipes for Birdie Bread and stuff. I'm intrigued!

A lot will depend on your schedule. For me I am home all day, so Eve has pellets in the cage at all times but also gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner with me on his play stand.

unfortunately, "yz" is used to me feeding him with my hands. even though he has hiz water bowl and pellets all day he doesn't really touch them

he loves peanuts to death but i knw i shouldn't rely on that>> i give him some as daily treats but i stick with meals containing vegies and fruits

i feed him 2 to 3 times a day but i've noticed that he doesn't like eggs or yogurt so am afraid he will suffer lack of protein and calcium

another worry is that he likes chillies and i wonder if this is gonna damage his digestive system

Chillies are fine, they will not bother a birds digestive system, if you are worried about protien and calcium, see if he likes beans or chicken, and for calcium, almonds are good as well as broccoli.

Almonds and dark leafy greens have calcium in it. Hard cheeses every now and then is ok for a parrot and it has calcium in it as well.

A lot of parrots love chilies and they are loaded with vitamins so no worries on that.

Just be careful with the kisses after feeding a chili. Bobbie has a thing for cayennes, piquins, and a bunch of others I grow for my sauces. Trust me, those high-octane kisses can really catch you off guard. Then you kiss your wife.

Dried Anchos are mild.

I leave pellets available, always.
Most anything else is a treat, but almonds and white grapes are reserved for rewards.
Bobbie will get some samples of whatever we're having so long as it doesn't contain any forbidden fruits (avocado, mushroom, etc.).
Enriched wholegrain pasta is a nice way to provide a low dose of essential vitamins--either dry or cooked--and makes for fun eating.

Peanuts are not a very healthy food for parrots, you are better off with almonds or walnuts. Also peanuts are notorious for carrying aspergillose mold as they are grown in the ground. This is toxic to birds. As to the grapes.....you really should use organic grapes or no grapes. Grapes have a nasty habit of absorbing pesticides so you can't just wash them.

Pellets are mentioned by a few in here... Any particular brand you (your birds) like??

My Bam-Bam gets Kaytee Rainbow Pellets in the dish at all times, and Kaytee Supreme Seed every other day

When I eat a piece of fruit, she gets some as well and she LOVES fresh Broccoli and yams. I also feed her a mix of whatever frozen veggies I have available mixed with spinach and she loves that as well.

I have yet to try the birdie bread, although it is now 230 and I am getting hungry... lol
