currently any pionus owners?

doesn't look like theres too many pionus owners on the site.

well we recently aquired a 3 month old dusky pionus. what a cool bird! he is already settled in after just over a week, and what a great overall personality. he is very affectionate and loves all the attn he can get.

anyway hope to see some more pionus owners around.

I don't own a pionus, but would love to have a blue headed.

I am considering the one I have here for a "test". He is a blue headed Pionus and adorable. Just a real problem when you try taking him off of his cage. Once down he is perfect. You can scratch him while on his cage as well. He is not a baby though so who I don't know what a baby would be like. From all of the info they seem perfect and beautiful!

I keep and breed three species of pionus. We have Maximillian, Whitecaps and Blueheads. I used to keep Cockatoos, mini macaws, conures, and cockatiels. I have slowly concentrated on the pionus rather than other genera. I still enjoy Amazons, and Cockatoos but pionus provide the interaction of a "big bird" without the demands and noise of most of the larger birds. Not that Pionus don't have the capability to produce noise from time to time but you don't get the continuous noise of conures, and macaws. We find the Maximillians develop a good vocabulary and perhaps be a more interactive bird. Blueheads and whitecaps tend to be less talkative.
I don't have any experience with the bronze wings but have heard good things about them as well.
