Re: Any Advise
Hi everyone, I am new to this also. I adopted 2 quakers from an abused environment. I have had them for about 3 months. When I first got them they had hardly any feathers. I have been feeding them Higgins Parrot food and giving them lots of fruits and veggies. They are covered in grey down feathers. They are both very ill natured. I have been working with them and one is beginning to let me approach her without biting, she just trys to nibble. The other one tries to attack me. I have had to separate them because of them plucking each other. I thought I had them out of the plucking but I have noticed today the one that was really looking good and almost covered in feathers has started back stripping there feathers. Does anyone have any advice to give me. I was told when I purchased them they were about 12 to 15 years old. I really thought I could nurse them back to health but now I am beginning to wonder....Is there anything I can do to prevent them from picking at themselves?? Since these birds are up in age will they ever look healthy again. I really believe they were used as breeders but I don't know for sure. I was told they were both females. Any advice will be appreciated.
