Default baby quaker: possible illness?

I just got a Quaker baby of 2months, two days ago from a good friend who owns a pet shop. Only today I have noticed an akward behavior I can't find really any information on:
He has grown used to me and whenever I reach in to pick him up, he willingly comes to me and let's me take him out. Today I noticed he was scratching crazily at his beak and would not stop. After a few minutes, I reached in like I normally would and he went to my hand, just when I was to pick him up, he started scratching his beak, particularly his nostrils I believe, and banging it onto the bottom of the cage, the wall of the cage, and it seemed to drive him biserk. I was scared he would trip and hurt himself so i moved some of the toys out of his way that he was next to and he continuously banged his beak between the bars, eventually stopping after scratching the nostrils again.

I have heard of mites, but can get no details on it, I am not sure if he has mites or not, and I am not sure if this is really a problem, or if he was just startled, I hope nothing is wrong with him. I was wondering what I should do about this: see a vet? Buy the spray that could help with mites? I really don't know.

It does not sound like mites at all, but rather more like something is caught up in his nostrils, this can happen with babies, especially if on formula or on soft foods. He is probably trying to get the offending item out of his nose. I'm hesitant to tell you how to fix this as you could end up hurting the baby, so if you want to seek the help of a vet than PLEASE do so. But basically you would dribble a small amount of water over his nostrils. this will make him sneeze and consequently sneeze out and dislodge the item. BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO USE SO MUCH WATER THAT YOU MAKE THE BABY ASPERATE WATER INTO HIS LUNGS! Older birds will dunk there heads in their water dish and take a bath getting water up their nose and sneezing to clean out their nose. I once had a baby lodge a small pellet up his nose, took him to the vet and the vet just picked out the pellet, but at that time I didn't know how to do these types of things so I was more comfortable seeking a vet than tyring myself. I just cation you about doing this not because it it hard to do but I would rather not see accidental harm come to your Quaker.

My friend has just told me that it might be if he has been bothered/annoyed. I am honestly scared to do what you have said for the fear of harming him, so I will bring him to the vet ASAP. Thank you for the advice =]

I ended up also asking the person who gave him to me, and a friend of mine who knows some about birds, and they both said it most likely had to do with an annoyance. after that time, he stopped banging/itching his nose... so i am guessing something had set him off,
