Q and Miss D is on a distinguished road
Default does anyone know anything about boarding parrots?

I have a quaker and I am going to Anaheim for a week in a few months, and I was wondering if anyone has tips on travelling w/ my QP? Like what I need to do to get him on the plane, what hotels would let him stay w/ me... or is he even legal in Cali? I would hate to leave him alone for a week... can anyone recommend good boarding or pet sitting accommodations for Edmonton Alberta? I have roomates but I don't think that would be a good match, they would feed him and give him water but that would be about all.

I have never been to California and I really don't want to cancel the trip sad.gif but I can't leave my baby for a week to rot and be all alone

If i go away i leave my African Grey alone, with the radio on plus plenty of food and water & i have a relative come in each day to change water & food, when i get back home shes still happy, your only going away for a week so i'm sure it would be fine to leave him/her with your room mates, i would say a flight would be more stressful than leaving him/her at home. I'm too off on holiday next month for one week and i hate the thought of leaving my loved African Grey but i know she will be better off staying at home some where that she knows & that she will get fed & watered. hope this helps !

I agree with having someone to care for him at home, boarding can lead to illness from other birds, and flying requires paper work, stress, possible illness, not to mention most airlines will no longer allow birds on flights due to avian flu virus, or most airlines will allow them but only in the cargo area, and that's very dangerous! Or they have to be in tiny carriers shoved under the seat! Talk about stress.

You cant take your quaker to california anyways. If I remember right they are illegal there. Have someone check on your bird while you are gone. Be it your roommates or someone else. Like Liquid said have them play some music or something that will be constant noise.
