Default I Finally Picked

Well after doing a lot of research and studying I finally picked. I got a pair of blue-throated macaws from Wendy’s Parrots. Wendy was great to work with and I highly recommend her and her birds. They are doing great so far and have not been loud at all except when they see my cat. They really go nuts when he walks by. Here are some pics let me know what you think.

Thank you very much. They are 12 years old. I am looking for a good training book so i can try and hold them. They seem tame but will not let me pet them at all. They were hand fed though. Any ideas on books?

Oh I was so tempted to take in a baby Blue Throat Macaw about 1 year ago.But I had to re-think it.Congratulations.Later the store had cases of many diseases so it's a good thing I didn't take it in.Haven't been back since.Yikes!I want to hear more are they quieter than the other Macaws? So I've been told.I don't know how true that is!

I have never seen a blue throat other than in a pic. I wanted one too, but could not find a local breeder. I think your are the first blue throat person on here. If you have had other macaws- what is the difference. Are they like a breeder pair, or just buddies. Do you have any other parrots

Thanks for the kind words. I can’t believe how quiet they are. They haven’t really made any sounds except for once when they first saw my brother’s cat. They really let out a scream then, but nothing after that. Yes it’s a breeding pair. They are not that tame but I would love to be able to hold them over time. Any ideas on how I should go about holding them for the first time (they were hand fed as babys.) Other birds I have are one redheaded Amazon that’s 50 years old.

I don't know if you will read this, but here goes...now that you have had the pair for awile, how are things going? are they letting you hold them yet??What are your plans for these birds??are they to be breeders???are you going to try and make companion birds out of them? I'm really curious too, I'd like to possibly get a single someday.I'm also wondering if they have'nt relaxed and began making more noise now??
Thanx
