practice makes perfect.

A good camera also helps.

also its just waiting for the right time to take the shot

thats not always as easy as it sounds

I found that if you rest the camera on something, it works much better. My hands aren't so steady. I have a little 6 inch tri-pod that I use too.

I take a whole bunch of pictures of my Amazons, believe me I also have alot of terrible, unprintable pictures. Just when you think you have the right one they move or turn and look away. And like fred stated a good camera helps especially if it has a "sport" or "action" mode you can use.
Hope to see some pics of your birds soon Quaker1447.

Quaker1447, thank you, but it's just luck. Likw wednsday said, use the action mode...and talk LOTS of pictures and you'll get some good ones...I have taken hundreds if not thousands of pictures of my guys and only keep a handful. That's why the digital camera is so wonderful...and I don't even have a good one, it's a 5+ year old Nikon CoolPix 775 that you can buy on Ebay now for like $35. Now, I do little editing...like croping and stuff...just cut out all of the background stuff... Get "The Gimp". It's a free download and it works pretty good. It takes a bit to figure it out, but hey, it's free!

If you have the time an evening photography class at the local community college. It is worth it imho. But you can also read up on it from web sites. Practice Practice Practice even in the class that is what they will tell you.
