wine colored urine

Hello every one!!!

I have a male eclectus he is 5 months old. He has been with me for about 2 months. Suddenly about 3 days ago while I was inspecting his droppings I saw a wine colored urine spots on the paper cage. This is my first bird, I have been reading and preparing a lot for his arrival and Im feeding him a variety of good food. I have an appointment with the vet for tomorrow. I just want to check if somebody have seen this before.

I'm glad you have an appointment tomorrow.

When you say you have been feeding him a variety of things.Does it include any colored pellets,colored berries and things? I'm owned by 7 Eclectus and I have never experienced that from any of them.

I already took him to the vet. Everything is fine, it is not blood in the urine and the vet found him in good health. The problem is that over here in Puerto Rico we don't have a good seed mix specially for eclectus and the one Ive been feeding him in the afternoon meal has some colorants. I suspend it immediately and I ordered from the Internet Volkman eclectus mix. So right now everything is normal Thank you very much.

I'm glad everything is well with your baby Eclectus "como se llame?" Volkman is a good seed mix that I have been using for over 1 1/2 years.Make sure you also offer lots of fruits and vegetables as well as whole wheat pasta,beans.whole grain rice.Something you will learn if you haven't already is that Eclectus love food and love to eat.A good site to check out for the proper diet of Eclectus is Eclectus Parrots or Parrot Talk which is a live Eclectus Chat run by Carolyn Swicegood.She has been a big help when I have run into problems with my Eclectus.
