I have a caique- black headed- he has been named by my sister because I purchased him on her b-day. She decided to name him captain Jack Sparrow. After you met him you know the name fits him like a glove.

I have a white bellied!

He's just a hilarious, goofy little man. He is only a year and half and is starting to talk (probably because he spends lots of time in the office!) and his favorite word is "what?!".

Fun little creature that is in love with my dog - they play together (supervised) all the time!

Whats your caique's favorite toy?

I have a white belly, yellow thigh Caique. Her name is Cherokee. She doesn't talk but does love to whistle and make kissie...chirps and clicking sounds. Any suggestions on getting her to talk would be appreciated.

Another question... Are raw, green, pumpkin seeds okay for parrots?

hi all!
great to meet fellow caique owners

elos favourite toys are foot toys, but he really loves his little dumbell he carries that everywhere with him lol

as for the raw pumpkin seeds they are fine, we have tried elo with them but he wasnt interested, walnuts are his fav

elo is great with our dogs too, supervised of course, hes now into wimpering and barking like the dogs just to wind them up and get them going lol
but the noise can get horrendous when they re all at it as you can imagine

oops missed the talking bit sorry
we encouraged elo by repeating a certain word like for example hello, he soon picked it up
they arnt huge talkers, but amazing impersonators

Ozzi wasnt too interested in pumpkin seeds either, he was really into peanuts but has abandoned those for the time being and moved on to cashews.

We teach him how to talk while we are impersonating each other....we have dances we do together (when nobody else is around!) and then add sounds, whistles and words. He's not into treat rewards so the dancing seems to work for him to catch on. He also shares a room with our greenwing whom has learned to say "No screaming" when Ozzi starts barking like the dog or making odd sounds he picks up from wild birds....so now Ozzi is starting to pick up "No Screaming" and will scream for a bit just so he can practice saying it =)

Ozzi's favorite toy is a bell ball wrapped in a sock....odd I know, but he got into socks when we had to wrap his foot (he got attacked by a hyacinth when he was a baby) so to distract from the wrapping in his foot we gave him the sock ball and he has to take it from cage to cage and perch to perch.

I must have the only caique in the world who doesn't play with foot toys. LOL
In fact, there aren't too many toys she is interested in (aside from my husband's finger and toe nails). Some of the few toys she likes are beads (like mardi gras beads), keys and one little foot toy shaped like a barrel with a bell in it. She doesn't use it as a foot toy but rather prefers it strung up on a string of beads.

We tried the green pumpkin seeds and she loves them.

For about a month i have had another little caique- a white bellied. So I did introduce them. They love each other, I think he was a little lonley because i never let him near the other large parrots. they are really great together, one can get out of his cage and gose to the other cage to play through the bars, they shower together. they are both about a year old. And they are always going a mile a minute. My balck cap really loves to ride on the back of my chinese crested hairless dog- captain plays with the tail and the dog likes it.
