Default Eclectus Giving Major Problems

Hi,

I just got a 2 year old female electus parrot from a lady. She had little history with Ruby a beautiful girl. She traded here a month ago for a dog she had and said the couple she got her from was moving to mexico and could not take a bird and hand raised her. The lady I bought her from is moving and could not take her. She said she was tame and great with kids. Having 4 boys this was important. She bit me that evening when we was taking her home. I felt that was due to a new person dealing with her. Its been 4 days and things have went to not so bad to worse. She was getting on my arm on UP command. Now she is charging at me intentionally biting drawing blood near every time.

I have tried to calmly talk to her. Her pupils dialte and she get mad. I bit about me and my experience I had a eclectus 2 years ago for a year. I had raised her and Angel was just that a magnificent bird. She would let me turn her upside down in my hand and lay in my palm while I scratched her belly. I sold her due to my job relocating me and I could not have her in my temporary rental. Since I bought my new home I felt it was time for another eclectus. I am at a loss she is now bitting everyone in my household. We tried to give her a time out by covering her cage and limited interaction with just me.

The only other issue I noticed she is laying eggs. 3 so far. Maybe its a phase while she is laying. But its scary she is attacking me when I even simply go to change her food and water out. If its is because she is laying eggs how long and how may eggs before she stops?

Any help or direction to training is appreciated otherwise I will be forced to sell her.

Thanks In Advance

I believe some people responded to you in your welcome thread about this. It does seem that your bird has had a hard life until now and add to that being slightly hormonal atm you may just want to give her a little more time as well as getting her checked by a vet so they can help you even more and rule out any medical problems for you.

hi and welcome to the forum.
Zetar has some good advice there for you.
I dont rely have much more to ad except that your way of thinking is off bass.
to sell a bird so fast is wong
the bird needs a chance and if you are any sort of bird lover you will give yourself and the bird more time.
By time i dont mean one ore two weeks a parrot is a commitment for life just because the bird is not doing what you want you are going to sell the bird.
(gee now that is smart )
I feel for your bird
