lovebird or kakariki?

hello everyone!!

we´re new here (my wife n i). well we´ve had 2 budgies in the past but recently decided to buy either a lovebird or a lutino red kakariki. so the confusion begins...


we contacted a breeder that has lutino red babies n peach faced wild colored agaporniden babies. i think both sets of babies are about 10 weeks old. sooo..now that we have fallen in love with both types of birds its hard to choose 1. n we have watched many videos on youtube about these birds. i noticed that while the kakariki seems to be very active its more quiet n more capable of speech than the lovebird. however, the lovebirds seem to get alot more attached to humans and are less hyper active.

as for the housing for the birds we plan to buy, it would be a 7 m² aviary and the rest of our apartment. we spent alot of time with our budgies, infact most of our freetime, so time isnt an issue for us or neither is space. we have a cheaper offer on the kakariki but that isnt much of a big difference anyway.

well, we were hoping some people out here could share their experiences with their birds with us n help us decide which one would be the right one for us.

The Kakariki seems like a very popular bird in NZ, but you don't see too many of them in the USA. I would go for the Kakariki because they seem very interesting and look like beautiful birds. It appears you have done some research so good luck on what you choose. I am sure either way you will be very happy!

thanks for the reply. yeah well we decided to stick with the lovebird. see i posted this out on the lovebird page to. n i was told that lutino´s are a product of inbreeding. so we decided to stick with the lovebirds. perhaps when we decide that 2 lovebirds are not too much on our hands..n we could use a new addition, i´ll get a wild colored kakariki. i´m interested in listening to them talk..if at all we´ll purchase one that does.
