Default New Pionus, any tips?

I just got my first Pionus this weekend, a four month old Maximillian. (S)He seems like a sweetie so far, if a bit quiet. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these guys, or wants to share some species-specific advice or anectodes. Thanks

no i don't have a pionus (i don't have a parrot!!)

Iv'e heard they need diets with less sunflower seeds.

(to much sunflower seed is bad for parrots anyway)

Iv'e also heard there prone to asperillogosis (repriatory thing)
but on the plus side maxis are supposed to be sweet and loving!!

i used to breed maxis... they make a stink if they're really scared, and they'll start wheezing too. Of course they always have a bit of an odor, but not really a bad smell.

My pionus absolutely ADORED fruit... I ended up giving them a less than 50% pellet diet. They also like corn a lot.
