Default Blue Crown Conure

I want your help with a question. I work at petsmart, and we got in a Blue Crown Conure. I raised this bird, taught it to speak and we were inseparable. If it saw me it squawked and didn't want to be with others. Well it was transfered to another store, and I really want to buy him. He is the sweetest bird, but I do not know if I can provide the proper home at the current time. I would be able to take him out in the evening, but during the day I would not necessarily be able to take him to work. It is possible in the future i would be able too. How much interaction would this guy need? It was awhile ago he was transfered, but when i visit he always remembers me, and does a dance too me. He is such an amazing creature, and I love him. Money is not the object whatsoever. I have a cage for a macaw he would go into, and I can clean it etc. I know proper diet, (fruits veggies, and pellets, with very little seeds). I don't want to buy a bird when so many are in rescue but this guy and me have become so attached. I plan on starting an avian rescue in a few years and have time to devote to many animals. I can definetly give him attention at night, but during the day is what I am concerned about. I have a large German Shepherd but they would not come into contact. Could my dogs barking stress the bird out? What are your opinions on my situation.l

I say go for it. He seems to like you more than most people and will definatley be more happy with you. I wouldnt worry about the dogs barks, because he's in a pet store, and has likley heard these before. The only thing you would have to do is spend almost all of your free time with him if you only let him out at night

The Blue-crowned conure is very intelligent and will become a very tame, loveable companion. They enjoy playing and can become very lively and active. Though they are generally a quieter bird than most of their Aratinga cousins, they can become rather loud and this should be taken into consideration when obtaining one as petThe Blue-crowned Conure is one of the most magnificent of the Aratinga conures. Not only is it beautiful, but is easily identified with it's attractive blue "crown". The Blue-crowned Conure, also referred to as the Sharp-tailed Conure.
