Re: What Do I Need For Her?
OMG! Please do NOT buy a Too because he is "Cute" !!! they are wonderful birds YES.
BUT!!! you need to research ANY spieces for a while before you jump into buying one. Toos , just like any other species, have quirks, and you need to know what those quirks are before you jump into this.
if it means passing up this one so you have time to rsearch, then thats fine, there will always be another "cute" one to buy down the road when you are more wise to their ways.
asking here will only get you so far in the research, you also noeed to buy some books, do google searches, everything you can.
you do know how long they live right? and without proper knowlede before purchase in a year you may be fed up by the noise and temperment and want to get rid of him. this is a LIFELONG decision that you are making and it concers not just you but another living feeling loving creature. Birds tend to bond and its unfair to the poor guy buy him just on a whim.
please please please do more reasearch anddont every buy a pet because he is Cute.
ok off my pedestal.
you will need a LARGE cage.(think 900 bucks or more if being purchased at a petstore)
food, good named pelleted kind, seed for the conversion process. he will more than likly be weaned onto seed but to keep him healthy and happy seed should only be a treat and pellet should always be available , converting is not EASY but it is not HARD either if dont right so dont worry there.
he will need pleanty of toys. LOADS of them and with the strentgh of his beak think LARGE STURDY EXPENSIVE toys. he will tear them up thats the point itll keep him from tearing hiself plucking when he is bored.
he will need a playstand if his cage does not have one on top.
he will need many diferent size and types of pearches to keep his por little feet active and used. think, in the wild tree branches are all dif withs and sizes his cage should be to.
a selection of treats, cuz you wont kow his fav till he tries a load LOL! you will need to also feed fresh fruit and veg to him ,
im sure if left soemthing out , there is loads to think of when stocking a cage and home for a large parrot (or any bird for that matter)
