Default are all cockatoos terrors?

Guys I really want one!

I am in love with a moluccan.Do they really scream for hours and hours?I am prepared to live with a few screams a day but not constant screaming....Do you have any advice?I would be home all day and would get it as a baby so giving him lots and lots of attention would not be a problem

Thanks
Nat

YES!!!!! But everyone is different. The do not make good pets. The are in a class of there own. to keep them healthy you need to cook and chop each and everyday. They need to see a vet at lest 2 times a year 30 to 50 bucks and If they do get sick it costs big bucks 50 bucks a day easy, just for board and you can expect a 5 day stay with things going well.If you get a bitter the larger ones can snap a finger bone, all of them can rip flesh with out even trying. They need at the very lest 1 hr of every day just to survive. 3 hours a day to to stay sane. a cheap cage is 300 bucks. Often they only like you and will bite all others, man or beast for coming near you. Then again I don't know how I would live without my girl. They are so much more then just a pet. In truth you can often get them free as so many people are looking for anyone to take them off there hands. Research, research If you just want a pet, budgies and lovebirds are wonderful pets and easier to look after after.I have had birds my whole life, I have lovies Alexander's, button quail, canaries finches and Diamond doves. I love them all. Cockatoo's change your life. For a few it is a good thing. Still want one? They are worth all the work. Ever moment!!

Yes, they are all screamers (even the ones that we consider 'well mannered'), they all need hours and hours of attention every day (and that sounds wonderful at the beginning but after ten years of this, it loses its charm completely and you still have another 30 or 40 years to go), they are all difficult to feed right and to keep healthy (and I don't know where the previous poster lives but there is no single avian vet around me that would even look at a bird for $30). And, worst of all, they are INCREDIBLY destructive and, unless you have seen what they can do in just one hour, you can't even begin to imagine the degree of devastation they can wreck! Cockatoos are the number one given up bird and there are several good reason why. I do not recommend them to anybody. These birds are not meant to be pets. Period.
