Default Newton the Vasa

There is a woman in Mississippi who is trying to rehome her female Vasa. She is 5 years old, her name is Newton (darn cute), and she talks up a storm. The bird she says is very sweet, but she has a child, and three or four other birds and doesnt have the time....She is asking $1000 for Newton and her 'macaw' sized cage(not sure the details on the cage) and all her toys and stuff. You would have to driver there to pick her up.

So.....If any one is interested, contact her via Myspace, her name is Something Sweet To Throw Away.... or do a search on myspace for Vasa Parrot, it comes up right away.

I hope someone here that knows about Vasa behavior is willing to take this on, it would end up being a great story!

lol, this is the same vasa I was talking about a little while ago. I think she also has an add on craigs list. I really hope some one takes her in!

These available sweethearts really make me want to start a vasa colony. Can you imagine how much fun (and chaos) you'd have?

I know, but sadly I'v started to notice a trend....

All the vasa's in need of homes seem to be 5 year old females? This is interesting becuase that is also the age that they sexualy mature. And I know from one breeder friend of mine that when her vasa is in breeding season she even has a hard time changing the food and water without getting her hand ripped off. I just hope theses females aren't getting rehomed due to hormons, since hormonal/breeding season only lasts a couple of months.

I know, Kimba. I hope anybody with ANY parrot realizes that around 5 years or so,(depending on the species) ANY parrot could rip off your hand with hormomal changes. I know this is the same little girl you talked about earlier, I just thought I would try to help out and rehome her.

I did hear from her, but that was before I knew the Gizard was bringing all his things over to my pad. I told her I was interested, and all she said is the info I posted here and said I would need to make arrangments to come pick her up. I asked about pictures and more details, but by then she already knew I couldnt take her anymore. I havent heard back since then. I did tell her I was going to post the info here to try and find her a home, so hopefully somebody who knows about Vasas or is at least willing to learn would be interested. I will keep you posted if and when I hear more.
