hi and welcome to the forum

I hope that you enjoy your stay here with us.

Your Ringneck might not make any noise as he is new and he would not be settled in yet.

Or he could be a young bird also.

How long have you had you ringneck ?

It he tame ?

may be you can give us a pic to go by ?

Hi fred!
thnx for replying dude.
i bought him a few days back n i think hez quite old or mayb hez in his teenage yrs.
he doesnt produce any kind of sound...just eats or tries to break the cage.
he is not tamed (though i want to tame him but tht seems kind of impossible!)
i tried to post the pic but its size is too large it wont fit in as an attachment.
i can tell u how he looks like(his size is tht of adult ringnecks n has a tail tht is 7 inches long n hez green in color) or u can tell me ur e-mail add i can send it to u over there!
dude i m really confused abt this behaviour of my parakeet.id b grateful if u can help me out !

Give him time to settle in, birds in new surrounding will not make noise until they settle in. Think of it this way...if he was in unfamiliar territory in the wild and made noise the chances of him getting eating by a predator are pretty high. Same holds true in new homes, his survival instinct is telling him to be quiet so that nothing eats him. When he realizes that that's not gonna happen and he settle down he will make lots of noise. And btw, really old birds make just as much noise as the younger ones. So enjoy the quiet for now.

I think once he gets use to everything it will start talking. The real question is once it goes going it may never be quiet again lol!

I've heard that ringnecks even wild one are easy to tame. Just get him to neutual ground where he cannot see his cage and work with him for 10 to 15 minates at a time 2 or three times a day. he will soon be very happ to come out and spend time with you. Don't train any longer then 10 or fifteen minates because birds get bored easily and then you will not get the progress that your trying to achieve he has to want to come out and play and he won't if you make the proses long and boreing.
