Hello all...
I am bringing home an amazon parrot tomorrow. He is approximately 15 years old. I am a veterinary technician at an animal hospital and one of our elderly clients has many medical problems and is unable to care for him any longer. She called our hospital hoping that one of us could possible adopt him...she is very reluctant to let him go to any home and I stepped in to help ease her worries.
My question is this: How do I identify exactly what species of amazon that he is? He has yellow on the front of his head and a white/bone colored beak. He has red and blue tips on his wings and red shoulders. I don't know if any of this helps but I cannot find a picture to match what he looks like. Do any of you know a website I could visit to see every different kind of amazon? Also, the owner said she 'thinks' that he is a yellow nape amazon but he has a white beak...all pictures I have seen of yellow napes have black or very dark beaks, but does that matter?
Any help would be great. He will be home tomorrow and then maybe I can post some pictures. He is a great talker and loves to sing songs....especially "I left my heart in San Fransisco"!!

PS Surely it isn't too late to train him? He is a bit nippy with her at times and instead of correcting him, she simply backs down and puts him back in his cage. He is only 15 years or so and I am hoping with time and patience, he can be trained to be a part of our family...without biting!!
