Default Bottom of Cage

I'm a newer owner of a CAG and from reading everything I could possibly find, the popular opinion seems to be that a bird at the bottom of the cage is BAD NEWS...but my Izzy seems to like playing and running around the bottom. She spends a good amound of time at the bottom of the cage, but she is totally alert, and curious and making lots of 'peep' noises.

So just for reassurance, it is OK that she is at the bottom of the cage to play?

If she's very young that would be pretty normal.. If she is young I'd try putting a perch very near the bottom of the cage until she feels more comfortable climbing and perching higher up. If she's an older bird and is eating and seems otherwise healthy she just might like down there.

Thanks--- she's only 5 months so she is still a baby. She definately doesn't act like something is wrong when she goes to the bottom, so I'm sure she's fine. It's not that she doesn't like heights, or perches either--she's all over the place!

Sounds good to me, when my birds were babies they spent most of the time on the bottom of the cage. Give him/her cool things to do higher up and he/she will start spending more time higher up. One word on height, don't let your bird hang out were he will be higher than your head, height is a dominance thing with birds and whoever is higher up is in charge.
