Cockatoo Feather Plucking
LiquidIce:
Theres little to rival the helplessness and anxiety that parrot owners feel when they see their beloved companion birds pulling out feathers, as if it were a terrible compulsion. Many times a bird that has been given the best of care can start removing its feathers, all of a sudden.
Feather mutilation comes in several different patterns. Some birds bite their feathers off at skin level, leaving nothing but broken feather shafts and down feathers. Others actually pull feathers out intact until theyre...

I have two birds one is a reformed plucker and the other has just started. I'd like to share what worked and to ask some advice on what to do about my other bird.

Feather picking is a condition that has no easy and quick solutions, as it is a disease caused by stress and other psychological factors. Hello, I am looking for help with my African Grey. A few days ago I notice she was missing some feathers on her neck. It is a small area but it seems to have gotten a little bigger since I first noticed it. She is acting normal, talking away and eating fine. I have read it could be because of an all seed diet, I give her a mix of pellets, fruits, and seeds but I she will rarely eat anything besides the seeds. Also, she has been eating the same basic diet for years now so I would find it odd that it would...
