African Grey
LiquidIce:
African Greys have a hefty reputation, often causing people to place a lot expectation on their eventual performance. True or not, Greys are referred to as the most intelligent, the best speakers, the most neurotic and among the shyest of companion parrot species. They routinely demonstrate perceptual (problem solving and reasoning) abilities. They out talk many other parrot species. Many also bite, pluck their feathers and show a definite preference for only one human.
Lets take a look at...

Hello- I am new here and I signed up hoping that someone can direct me in my quest. My sister had an African Grey who died recently and I want to find her another. I was never a bird person, but I have to say, that bird just won everybody over- he was so clever and really truly talked to her... didn;t seem to be just mimicking words. He would run up to people and greet them, tease the dog, and attempt to talk on the phone. She feels as though she has lost a friend.
I live on Long Island and am not...

I have a Congo African Grey named Wiggles ("Wiggie-Woo", a name he made for himself), that's been in the family since '97 or so.. was given to us by my uncle. Hes about 15 years old now. He is a very talkative bird.. but most talkative when we are out of the room. His cage is in the kitchen where he observes everything; people talking on the phone, cooking, eating, tv noises, my dogs, cat, etc. Unfortunately, he rarely comes out of his cage because we are very weary of our boston terrier, Maggie, whom,...

I adopted my first bird today:D! I found a lady that was ill and coudnt care for her birds anymore. She is 8 years old and the lady hadnt been able to interact with any of her birds for the last 6 or 7 months. When I showed up she was in a filthy cage as were the other birds. Her nails are soooo long as is her beak but after the ladys husband fought with her and got her out of the cage she steped up on my arm imediately without even trying to bite me! I decided that i would take her home. I felt so...
